about
"My own postage stamp of native soil."
William Faulkner
Born and raised in the Mississippi Delta, Stuart Phillips writes about what he knows: race and identity, loss and longing. He works to make place a character and to make his characters relatable, yet unforgettable.

Stuart has a B.A. from Ole Miss, a J.D. cum laude from Pepperdine University School of Law, and an MFA in Creative Writing from Fairfield University, where he held the H. W. Wilson Fellowship and served as Editor-in-Chief of Causeway Lit, the MFA program's online literary journal.

He now lives in a 200-year-old home in New York's Mohawk Valley, where he writes short stories and works on the Great Southern Novel.
